Alloy Wheel Refurbishment Centre

Diamond cutting

Diamond cutting wheels gives a superior looking finish to an alloy wheel by removing a fine layer of metal on a CNC lathe to give a polished effect. No longer just used on prestige vehicles, diamond cut wheels come as standard with most manufacturers.

During the production or refurbishment process the diamond cutting will take place after the primer and basecoat have been fully cured. The wheels are then skimmed with a diamond tip to give an enhanced shiny face or lip to the wheel. Afterwards lacquer is applied. At Wheel Genie all our diamond cut wheels are recoated in two coats of OEM (original equipment manufacturer) lacquer to give maximum durability.

As a layer of metal is removed during the diamond cutting process, there is a limit to the damage that can be repaired and the number of times a diamond cut wheel can be refurbished. Usually a wheel can be recut 1-2 times. Also, due to lacquering on the bare metal, diamond cut wheels do not last as long as fully powder coated wheels. We advise that badly corroded wheels are powder coated to give them a longer life.

Due to the above reasons diamond cut wheels need to be carefully inspected by our technicians prior to any work being carried out, to make sure we are able to recut them.

We offer 6 months warranty on diamond cut wheels
